BabyMo Blankets
and other mohair fabrics are hand made at our Port Elizabeth factory, which can be visited
by prior arrangement.
Mohair comes from the Angora goat
and you can find out more about them by clicking the picture. |

Commercially produced mohair loop
yarns of very fine mohair are made to our specification, and then dyed in small
batches. All the dying is done on site, allowing us to develop the clear bright and
individual colours, for which BabyMo is so well known. |

Short warps are prepared - just 18
blankets will be made - and put on hand looms. |
Then our expert weavers put the
weft across, building up the design. As it is removed from the loom, each piece
inspected and should there be any small faults, repairs are made. |
Each blanket is then washed, to
remove any surplus dye, and to set the weave. Dried in the South African sun, the
blanket starts its long hand finishing process. |
| Fringing is all hand done, and the
effect can not be reproduced by machine. |
Then
it is raised with steel brushes to give the special 'fluffy" appearance that is
BabyMo. |
