BabyMo Blankets and other mohair fabrics are hand made at our Port Elizabeth factory, which can be visited by prior arrangement.

Mohair comes from the Angora goat and you can find out more about them by clicking the picture.

dye.jpg (10528 bytes) Commercially produced mohair loop yarns of very fine mohair are made to our specification, and then dyed in small batches.  All the dying is done on site, allowing us to develop the clear bright and individual colours, for which BabyMo is so well known. dry.jpg (7130 bytes)

beam.jpg (6473 bytes) Short warps are prepared - just 18 blankets will  be made - and put on hand looms.

weaving.jpg (5753 bytes) Then our expert weavers put the weft across, building up the design.  As it is removed from the loom, each piece inspected and should there be any small faults, repairs are made.

wash.jpg (11335 bytes) Each blanket is then washed, to remove any surplus dye, and to set the weave.  Dried in the South African sun, the blanket starts its long hand finishing process. clothesline.jpg (6194 bytes)

Fringing is all hand done, and the effect can not be reproduced by machine.  twiddle.jpg (5074 bytes)

brush.jpg (6884 bytes) Then it is raised with steel brushes to give the special 'fluffy"  appearance that is BabyMo.
The fringes are then trimmed and the blanket thoroughly inspected for the last time. trim.jpg (7481 bytes)

sew.jpg (5776 bytes) Our labels are added, the blanket folded (or rolled if its going a long way) and it goes to our stock room ready for dispatch.

world.jpg (8563 bytes) From here it goes to our shops, or to other shops in S Africa, or dispatched to international buyers, and overseas retailers.   Baby-Mo has established itself as a premium article, and is valued around the world.
