vanstad.jpg (8921 bytes) This must be one of South Africa's "best kept secrets" - and it's free!

South Africa has more types of indigenous flowers on Table Mountain alone than in all Europe, and one of these species - the PROTEA is the country's national flower.
protpin.jpg (9686 bytes) 35 kilometres from Port Elizabeth on the N2 (the main Cape Town road), Van Staden's Flower Reserve is well sign posted, and only 2 minutes from the Freeway.  Missed by many who which to speed down the Garden Route, it is well worth a visit. prot1.jpg (14812 bytes)
There is no accommodation at this small reserve, nor are reservations necessary.

It has excellent views, including Van Stadens' Bridge - for many years the longest span in the southern hemisphere.
